Das Thema der World Wide Panorama Aktion zur Wintersonnenwende war "Sanctuary", also ein heiliger Platz oder ein Platz an den man sich zurückziehen kann. Die romanische Kirche war viele hundert Jahre so ein Platz, an dem nicht nur gebetet wurde, sondern der mit seiner Lage auf einem Felsen und seiner starken Umfassungsmauer den Dorfbewohnern auch Schutz bot. The theme for the winter solstice world wide panorama event was "Sanctuary" - a holy place or a place of withdrawal. The romanesque church in Niederrotweil was both: a place of contemplation as well as a place of defense and safety for the inhabitants of the village, as the strong wall and situation on a rock indicates.
